We left home for New York last Wednesday (12th) and returned home on Wednesday (19th)
We had visited there before in 2004, so this time we knew what we wanted to do.
The 1st thing everybody asks me is "did you see any shows" and the answer is NO!!!
There were 4 of us in my party (the ones we had to pay for) and at 125.00 a person we could not afford to lay down $500.00 for the girls to "see a show". Frankly, I don't see how anybody does... Can somebody tell me that?
What we did do was we bought 7 day passes for each of us, for the subway...Usually the subway is 2.50 per ride (which is what we paid in 2004, or we may have bought day passes, I'm not sure) but anyway, the 7 day pass was a bargin because we rode the subway everywhere. In my minds eye, this guy was taking flowers home to his beloved, or maybe it was to his sick mother... either which way, its sweet to see a guy with flowers!
John and Rudy had subway maps and it was a real adventure lining out where we were going and what trains to take to get there and return on.
I like the subway, it is FUN-N-N. We even went over to Hoboken , New Jersey on the (path) subway under the Hudson river, that cost $2.50 extra for going to a different state, but we didn't mind. We went to the now famous Carlos Bakery, where they film a show on T.L.C. called "Cake Boss".
I ate what they call a "Lobster Tail". It is very thin pastry with lots of layers rolled up to look like a lobster tail with creme cheese inside... Yum-Yum! It was good. ( Pardon my expression, I was upset with RR when he took this picture!) Hoboken, N.J. is a beautiful little spot just across the river, here's a look at New york from there On this lush green lawn, people were sunbathing playing in the sprinklers, and just enjoying the sunshine!
I took this picture of "peaches" in Hoboken, there are plumbs and cherries in the background.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of the beautiful sunflowers
Rudy and John took the girls to Coney Island to eat a world famous "Nathans hot-dog"
they loved that,
but said that the beach was so crowded that you could not possibly enjoy the water...
There are so many majestic things in New york. I had a hard time deciding what to blog about. There were some gross things there too, like the dogs being treated like humans. We even saw one dog with shoes on... We saw sodomite couples hand in hand, hugging. I guess with everything there is bad
I think the thing that bothered me the most was the "First Baptist Church, of Uptown Manhatten...It no longer houses the First baptist Church of Manhatten, now it is home to a small assembly of Korean Baptist's The words etched in stone are as true today as they were the day they were etched...
ROMANS 10:9&10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
So long New York

The closest I have ever been to being in New York is Kennedy Airport. Do not know if I would want to put it on my list of places to go or not. Looks like you had fun though, rats, sodomites and all!
Sounds like you had a great time. I was in New York in 1975 and 1976. I was 15 and 16. It was a whole different world then would like to go back sometime.
Sodmites in New York? Stop stereotyping please!
to my dear Anonymous friend...
I wrote a whole post, and all you saw was one sentence..I dont live in a city where I see these things, so yes, sodomites, and rats, and subways in New York. Things that are rare to me.

Please do not refer to gay couples as sodomites. It is rude and bigoted. Note, as well, that last week the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America voted to approve committed gay and lesbian couples to be ministers in their congregations. The Unitarian Church has been performing gay wedding ceremonies since 1963, and now the United Church of Christ performs this sacrament for gay couples as well. Tija Spitsberg
Good pictures! Glad you had a good time.
I'm with you though about the sodomites. And just because the 'church' of this day approves of homosexuality doesn't mean diddly squat. Just says what state the church is in. Sad, so very sad.
Jesus believes in the inherent dignity of each and every person. Reducing persons to whatever you perceive as his or her sexual practices is counter to this tenet. Second, Jesus doesn't address the issue of homosexuality at all, and Sodom in the old testament makes reference to a place rampant with wild pleasure seeking and hedonism. The term sodomy is a 18th century invention existing only in the English Language. Tija S
God's word could not be clearer.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Gay? where did that word come from?Queer is the word. The bible means what it says , don't twist the words to fit you'r lifestyle.Twist the lifestyle to fit the words!
Tija said: Jesus believes in the inherent dignity of each and every person.
Tija, that may be your jesus, but it's not mine.
Jeremiah 17:9 says:
The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it?
I don't hear much inherent diginity there. NOBODY has ANY diginity outside of Christ, I believe the bible teaches.
I think you and I worship two different Jesus's.
If you are happy with yours, great! I am very happy with mine also.
Glenda...NewYorkCity!!! Wow!
I've never been...think it's way too big of a place for the likes of me!
Sounds like it was quite an experience!
Glad you are home safely!
Missed you Lady!
Goodness...did you step on some toes!!! Thanks for the tour of N.Y.C I would have a hard time being in such a crowd of people..it is a people watching haven and i mean that in a good way. With my disability i have to sit a lot and i spend time people watching and they in turn, i am sur, watch me. Blessings Dee
These comments truly break my heart...We are to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to follow his word for our lives...not to judge others and hurl scripture at each other as if it were a weapon.
Tija is a good and kind person who I love and respect as I do you Glenda...we just don't agree on the appropriateness of calling people Sodomite Couples but this is your blog and you have that right.
