Slick Rick!

Hello Ya'll,
I'm still here, alive and kicking. I focus so much on the "bad" things so much of the time , so today I've decided to focus on the "good things". For starters I have 5 healthy children and I am so thankful. I have 2 great stepsons, Jesse, who is about to get his diploma, and then there's Ricky...Those who know me know Ricky. This morning I went into his room to feed him and to give Rudy a morning off, except I just cant lift him anymore to put him in his chair, to get him ready for school. I decided to put on my new Alan jackson C.D. "Precious memories". So I'm getting him ready and "Blessed Assurance" came on and I started to sing and Ricky started to smile...not the excited, wiggling kind of smile, but the peaceful smile, and the more I sang the calmer he got. I think he enjoyed the music and me singing to him... I begin to think about my grumbling and complaining and the woe is me, that I usually have and I thought about the assurance that I have in the Lord Jesus. The more I thought about it and worked with Ricky, the more I began to thank the Lord for my life, my blessings, and Ricky! I have seen alot of people like Ricky, but I have NEVER seen a happy person like Ricky, except Ricky. He's always smiling, I promise If I told a joke, even tho Ricky would'nt understand it, he'd laugh. He can't do anything for himself, nothing, but he's smiling. Things could have been so much worse. So many C.P. people are combative,the only time Ricky gets even a little defenseless is when he's scared, which , the older he gets grows less and less. Ricky is content no matter what unless he's tired and then he only starts making noises, as if to nudge us , to say I wanna go home! Sometimes I feel burdoned down, cause we don't have a "normal" life, we can't go when we feel like it , or sleep in or just do nothing, cause Ricky has to be fed and changed, its our job, no its our life. But you know it keeps us humble, and you know , when ever I start feeling so sad and feeling like the world is on my shoulders...there's Ricky, smiling, happy, content. Thank you Lord for Ricky, who helps me keep things in prospective, like a constant reminder that God is merciful and good, and even when things seem bad, there not as bad as they could be. In a way we're like Ricky in Gods eyes, were helpless, totally depraved, we can't do anything except what our nature desires apart from God, DEAD in sin,
(Ephesians 2:4-9) but God...who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We are as helpless as Ricky, spiritually, but God gives us what we need.
just like we give Ricky stuff to physically sustain him, God gives us everything to spiritually sustain us.
I think I'll sing to Ricky more often...God blessed me this morning!
Ya'll have a good Friday.

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, Who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He;
“Full atonement!” can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;
Now in Heav’n exalted high.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew His song we’ll sing:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
