Holla from Old MEXICO

Today is day 2 of our visit . So many sights and customs that Ive never seen or heard of. I'm sharing some of them here in bloggerville...

This is some-one's house, the door is open because they have all kinds of stuff to sell including food. It is called a "Cocina" which means kitchen in spanish. If you will click the picture it will grow bigger and you can see it better.

We were driving out to one of the colony's to visit one of Rudy's relatives and we stopped at red light and about 6 or 8 people with black dust cloth looking things started running over to each car, ready to give your car a good "dusting". If that wasn't enough the next red-light another group came out with little water bottles and squeegees to do the windshields. After they are through, they go to the drivers window and hold their hand out for any bit of change that you might have. This picture is not real good , but I was trying to be discrete.

Another red-light and these guys came out selling a stick horse, newspapers and the guy with the papers also had phone cards for sale.

This is a picture of one of Mexico's main problems (IMHO). If I saw 1 person walk by and do the sign of the cross and kiss their thumb I bet I saw 10 in about 5 minutes time.

On a happier note...We got to Yesenia's house about the time Deniss (Denise) got home from her 1/2 day kindergarten class. Isn't she the cutest little girl!

I took Yesenia to he school to get her report card. She made 5 A's and 1 B She got her cap and gown, then had to go to a really nice place to get pictures taken. Believe me the school looked NOTHING like a school . It was a trashy dirty building with students standing around smoking and visiting in the hall-ways. This is a picture of her and some of her friends, and then a picture of her alone. She as so nervous just to take pictures
This is just a picture to show how festive this poor country is. I have seen several LARGE nativiety scenes. There aredecorations everywhere and Mary and the baby Jesus are everywhere!

I'll try to write more tomorrow...visit Candid Carrie for more PHRYDAY FOTOS!

Have a great day!

I MISS YOU WHITNEY!

Wow!! Great job Yesenia. I am totally convinced the only way out for people is an education. I saw the same things in Africa.
